Shawn Brady has every reason to be throwing furniture around on Days of our Lives. Shawn shot his dad while trying to protect his mom, and now Bo is in a coma. Shawn’s grandfather, Victor, blames Shawn. But not nearly as much as Shawn is blaming himself. Roman tried to talk him out of it. Steve tried to talk him out of it. Hope tried to talk him out of it. Belle tried to talk him out of it. But since Shawn isn’t listening to any of them, maybe he could use a professional to chat with.
Everyone gets therapy now. There’s no stigma to it. In fact, if you’re not going to therapy, people assume you have something to hide. Even Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), who thought he was happy and enjoying his life, has learned in therapy that he was actually miserable. He thought he loved sleeping with numerous hot women. Now he knows that it was meaningless sex, and he actually wasn’t enjoying himself at all. Shawn (Brandon Beemer) can get equally useful insights.
Some people avoid therapy because they can’t afford it. Even if Shawn’s billionaire grandpa Victor (John Aniston) doesn’t want to foot the bill because he’s in a snit, Shawn can always get pro bono sessions from Grandma Marlena (Deidre Hall). After all, as John (Drake Hogysten) kept saying, she’s treated 5,000 clients. What’s one more?
But the real reason Shawn should seek therapy is because he desperately needs it. He was operating on instinct, protecting Hope (Kristian Alfonso). And she was being held at gunpoint. By Bo (Peter Reckell), who they thought had killed Kate (Lauren Koslow), and kidnapped Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). Shawn did the right thing. And if his family can’t make him believe that, maybe a professional can.
