The benefits of watching a show that has been around for 60 years — like Days of Our Lives — is that the veteran characters today have plenty of stories to tell about yesterday. This focus on the Hortons and the show’s big anniversary is allowing current fans to learn about DAYS past. Julie and Marie recently filled Jeremy in on one of their family’s most sordid stories, the tale of Bill raping Laura and Mickey thinking he was Mike’s father. In fact, Bill was his biological father all along. It felt like Julie tried to make a point through this story to the newly returned Horton.
Key Takeaways
- The Horton family revisits painful memories as Julie and Marie reveal shocking stories from the past.
- Jeremy struggles with his family’s dark legacy — and his own questionable redemption.
- Salem grows uneasy as Jeremy’s return raises suspicions and triggers old fears.
Horton Family Horror Stories
Apparently, Mike (now Roark Critchlow) never really sat his son down to tell him about this part of his origin story. Jeremy (Michael Roark, here’s what to know about the actor) said he heard bits and pieces, but never the unfiltered truth. And it’s not the only wildly dramatic tale that Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and Marie (Maree Cheatham) recently told. There was also the one that involved Marie inadvertently falling in love with her brother and ultimately becoming a nun as a result of the fallout.
Towards the end of Monday’s episode, Julie offered Jeremy some words of wisdom that he would be wise to remember.
All families have secrets. Even the best of families. You learn and you grow. And you find out in time that it’s not about sweeping things under the rug. It’s about not letting the past define you, as you move forward with your life, Jeremy.
Who is the Real Jeremy Horton?
Jeremy is currently at a crossroads. He says he has evolved and matured, and done the work to become a better man. He wants redemption and forgiveness, along with all that comes with that. However, it feels like there’s still something shady and creepy lurking beneath the surface.
The way he shows up at Stephanie’s (Abigail Klein) place of residence with flowers out of the blue. He ended up on a date with Jada (Elia Cantu) after they just so happened to connect on a dating app. And what was going on during that Halloween celebration — that was him with the knife that was ready to attack Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) when the pumpkin came flying at Alex, right?
So are we to believe that Jeremy hasn’t changed at all, and he’s teaching young, impressionable minds? Right now, it feels like the Hortons are sweeping his past behavior under the rug, or they don’t even know exactly what he did. The way he treated Stephanie when he was last in town was unacceptable (he held her head under water in the hot tub). And the fact that his return has triggered her is understandable.
Salem Needs to Watch Out
Stephanie and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) need to continue to stay away from him — do not poke the bear. At least until they know if the Old Jeremy has left the building or if he’s still around, ready to come out and play.
We’re not sure where this story is headed, but there’s a very real chance that redemption may not be in the cards for Jeremy — by choice. He needs to soak up his family history and the love that the Hortons so easily give to their own. He needs to bask in the glow of customized Christmas ornaments and let go of his shady past. Jeremy should focus on moving forward with his life and continue working on his emotional and mental healing.
But where’s the drama in that? If Jeremy can’t manage to walk the good-guy path, then everybody in Salem needs to be on high alert this holiday season and beyond.
