How Days of our Lives Wasted Allie Horton

Published by

When Allie Horton returned to Days of our Lives for the first time since toddlerhood in the summer of 2020, viewers couldn’t wait to see what hellion Sami’s daughter, and equally troublemaking Kate’s granddaughter would be like. The stage was set for a new, young villainess who could drive story for years to come. But, from the moment she reappeared in Salem, DAYS never wasted an opportunity to waste an opportunity where Allie was concerned.

Allie Horton: Pregnant Pause

First, Allie (Lindsay Arnold) showed up pregnant. Nothing brings a young leading lady’s storyline potential to a screeching halt than saddling her, right away, with a baby. Babies have brought down stronger characters than Allie, and she was brand new!

Pointing DAYS Fingers

Allie’s next move was to accuse Tripp (Lucas Adams) — a character fans were more fond of than her — of rape. And, when she turned out to be mistaken, everyone was more concerned with Allie not feeling guilty about it, than about an innocent young man whose life was potentially completely destroyed. Not a good look.

Days of our Lives: Keeping Up

Maybe if Allie had given Henry up for adoption to Nicole (Arianne Zucker) like she initially planned, her character could have picked up some traction. But she reneged on that, too, and proceeded to ignore the baby that she’d decided to keep, for months at a time. Not a good look.

Days of our Lives Allie Horton: Love Story

Finally, Allie was paired with Tripp. Already kind of icky due to the whole rape accusation thing, but, OK. Then Allie cheated on Tripp with Chanel (Raven Bowens). Then Allie moved on with Chanel. Within a week, she was suggesting they have a threesome with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). And, a few months later, she cheated on Chanel with Alex. Who are we supposed to have been rooting for, again, here?

DOOL: Final Verdict

She could have been a villain like Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Kate (Lauren Koslow). She could have been a put-upon heroine like Grandma Marlena (Deidre Hall). She could have been anything, save what she was — which was an unpleasant young woman who didn’t know what she wanted, who used people, but not in a fun way. In other words…a lost opportunity.
