February 14 is just around the corner and that’s the date Johnny and Chanel picked for their Days of our Lives (second) wedding. Sure, her mom has cancer, and his family is…his family. But Johnny and Chanel anticipate no obstacles to saying their vows (again). Are they living in a fool’s paradise, or will this hitching really go off without a hitch?
Nobody’s wedding is ever perfect. Something always goes at least a little bit wrong. Maybe the photographer won’t show up. Or the caterer will screw up their order. Or the Devil will come to possess the groom again (refresh your memory about that here). Or Johnny’s grandfather will make his great Pheonix reappearance. The point is, even regular people can’t expect a flawless execution. A DiMera shouldn’t even hope for one.
Even if Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) don’t manage to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day, that doesn’t mean they can’t try again on some other national holiday. There’s always Lincoln’s Birthday. George Washington’s birthday. St. Patrick’s Day. Easter. Passover…Valentine’s Day is kind of a cliché. Plus, it steals from Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). Johnny and Chanel are better off finding a date that can be theirs and theirs alone.
Nothing is going to derail these lovebirds! If the Devil broke them up the first time, then obviously God is looking out for them in the second. Theirs is a great love for the ages. Especially now that Johnny’s twin sister is out of the picture.
There is absolutely nothing standing in the way of their happiness. Except that they’re young. And flighty. And unfocused. But all we’re saying is that the wedding will happen on Valentine’s Day. We’re making no predictions about the actual marriage itself!
