It was a fun time for the Johnson family.
Days of our Lives is filled with big moments. There’s Harris looking for drugs in Ava and Stefan’s restaurant, Tate’s legal woes, Nicole mourning her son while her daughter is in a coma, Sarah and Xander locking lips, and Paulina’s health crisis (while her husband still has amnesia). But, sometimes, it’s a little moment that packs the most punch. Case in point: The Johnson family’s dinner.
What happened at said dinner? Nothing much, really. Stephanie (Abigail Klein) invited Everett (Blake Berris), and Steve (Stephen Nichols) wanted to know why he’d never been advised that his daughter had a boyfriend in Seattle. That his daughter thought she’d been ghosted by her boyfriend in Seattle. Oh, and that her boyfriend, instead, was in a coma in Seattle. The same one who is now in Salem. Where he and Stephanie are kind of working together.
Then, they talked about setting up a scavenger hunt for charity, Steve told Wendy (Victoria Grace) he was happy she was staying in Salem, and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Tripp (Lucas Adams) talked about Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) health, which seems a little bit of a HIPAA violation, but, hey, they’re both doctors, so maybe that made it OK. The point is that nothing much happened: And that was a good thing.
Sometimes, it’s nice to take a break from the drama and just enjoy a warm, loving, non-confrontational family dinner. (If you can’t get one in real life, why not on TV?) Adding to the intimacy was the camera placement and direction. Instead of everyone sitting on one side of the table, like they’re posing for an updated version of The Last Supper, the Johnsons and their guests were situated around the table, making it feel like a real family dinner. And we were all invited. We’d like seconds, please!
