We realize it sure looked like Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis kissed and made up — after coming to an understanding about Leo Stark — on Days of our Lives. But we can’t help feeling like the declarations of love were just a Band-Aid over a much larger problem…which is that neither is as committed to their marriage as they proclaim to be.
Days of our Lives: Just a Symptom, Not the Disease
We also realize that Leo (Greg Rikaart) believes himself to be the center of all things, the most important piece in any puzzle, and the belle of any literal or proverbial ball. This latest spat between Sonny (Zach Tinker) and Will (Chandler Massey) may have seemed to be about Leo — to Leo. But, to us, it looked more like just an excuse to talk about issues they’ve both been burying under the rug for months.
DAYS: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?
Sure, Will was furious that Leo spent the holidays at Sonny’s house, while Sonny resented Will’s refusal to believe that Leo could change. But wasn’t their argument really about Will not coming to Salem for Christmas — and Sonny not flying out to California to spend it with him?
Why Ask Why?
And, um, why exactly didn’t that happen? Yes, Will is in Los Angeles doing rewrites on a movie. But even Hollywood closes down for Christmas. Will is rich. Even if there were no commercial flights — or he was foolish enough to try and book on Southwest Airlines — he could hire a private plane to get back to the love of his life…allegedly.
And why couldn’t Sonny join Will for Christmas? He couldn’t leave Salem because of…Arianna? Arianna, the child who isn’t even his, but Will’s? Arianna, who had not just her biological mother, Gabi Hernandez (Camila Banus), with her for the holidays, but also her future stepfather, Li Shin (Remington Hoffman). Yes, their New Year’s Eve wedding ended up imploding at the reception, but Sonny didn’t know that would happen.
Nothing was keeping Sonny in Salem. Nothing was keeping Will in L.A. And yet, they both managed to miss spending the holidays together. And not because of Leo….
