Alex got a backbone on Days of our Lives, and it was nice to see. Joy’s freak-out over Stephanie entering the apartment to check on a crying Kelsey made Alex hit his limit with his baby mama’s drama, even if just for a minute.

Alex Finally Spoke His Mind
From the moment Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) found out Kelsey (Lena Chase and Mira Chase) was his daughter, he has bent over backward to appease Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins). Alex even put his marriage to Stephanie (Abigail Klein) on hold.
However, when Joy lost it just because Stephanie was trying to help, it became too much for Alex. Instead of trying to make peace with Joy, Alex gave her an earful to defend his wife.
Alex even declared that Joy and Kelsey living with him wasn’t working. He insisted they needed to find a place where Joy could take care of Kelsey on her own or with other help. It turns out Alex has had enough of bowing down to Joy at the expense of his marriage.
The moment was nice to see, especially since Alex hasn’t done much of standing up for his wife. What Alex has done is let Joy walk all over him and his marriage so he can be with his daughter.
Why This Alex Won’t Last Long
Although watching Alex stand up to Joy was great, DAYS fans shouldn’t expect that version of Alex to stick around. The truth is that Joy calls all the shots regarding Kelsey and has made that crystal clear more than once.
Joy knows that all she has to do is threaten to leave town with Kelsey or amend the custody agreement to get Alex to do what she wants. Alex is determined to be the best father to Kelsey. Unfortunately, by doing that, Alex has given Joy all the power, and she’s using it to her advantage.
Even with the custody agreement in place, at least for a year, there’s no guarantee Joy will hold up her end of the bargain. The only thing she will for sure hold up is Stephanie not being within 10 feet of Kelsey.
Stephanie seems to be onto Joy faking her paralysis. DAYS spoilers reveal that she mentions her theory to Alex. This may or may not put Alex back to doing whatever Joy says. It all depends on whether he believes his wife.
