A Critic’s Review Of Days of our Lives: Tickled, Appalled & Riveted

The author’s opinions on DAYS are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: The Critic Ponders

When it comes to “The Mad Biscuit Drugger” storyline let me say that I liked it better when it was called the “The Libidozone Effect” and played out on Ally My Children. Heck, I even preferred that time Big Bad Deimos dosed everyone at that party at the Martin mansion and wound up getting stabbed to death. It was a Nicole (Arianne Zucker) whodunit if you’re interested.

That said, despite myself, I got quite the kick out of Eric (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole’s shenanigans.

But I can’t help but ask, once again, what exactly does Ron Carlivati have against people giving expressed consent and/or being in their right minds before engaging in sexual congress?

Further DAYS Musings

* Calling all General Hospital fans, this question is for you. Is it just me, or did Steve Burton [Harris Michaels] show more emotion in that one scene with Kristian Alfonso [Hope Williams Brady] — you know the one — then he did during his entire tenure as Jason, including the character’s pre-brain injury existence?

* Huh, Talia (Aketra Sevillian), Talia is the biscuit batter drugger? What on Earth will be her motive?

* I’m not sure I could ever support a Chloe/Xander romantic paring, but I’m definitely behind a friendship between the two of them.

* So…that’s it? EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) each know that the other knows about his machinations and they’re just leaving it at that? Stefan and Gabi’s (Camila Banus) affair has been rumbled by Li (Remington Hoffman) and he’s just going to give Gabi and divorce and Stefan and Gabi will reunite and leave happily ever after? What were the points of these ridiculous diversions?

* What would have been worse had Eric actually been in priests’ clothes? Getting struck by lightning for his blasphemy or being condemned by the Pope after a looky-loo called and tattled on him?

* You know how people throw around the line “I could watch [insert name of actor/actress] read the phone book”? Well, I watched Mary Beth Evans [Kayla Brady] read a three page letter to no one in particular and I was riveted.
