When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Week In Review
Well, Days of our Lives finally provided an answer to the question “Who Killed Abigail Deveraux DiMera,” and it wound up being the first person suspected and ultimately cleared — what a letdown.
This is why you don’t launch a whodunit storyline wherein all your viable suspects are peripheral, easily disposable characters. From the moment Abigail (Marci Miller) breathed her last I, you, we, and anyone else watching knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the mad stabber would be someone like a Clyde Weston (James Read), or a Li Shin (Remington Hoffman), or a Craig Wesley (Kevin Spirtas) — and Clyde was truly the most disposable of the bad bunch.
This was a man who raped his minor stepdaughter, who physically, emotionally, and mentally abused his son, ran drugs, and who killed people. I know that there was a large contingent of fans who adored the Clyde and Nancy Miller (Patrika Darbo) coupling, and I might have been able to get over the dealing and the murders. After all, I forgave and in a manner of speaking I forgot the spree that Ben Weston went on — and I could maybe, just maybe look past what he did to Ben — since I love Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) and he did try to kill Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) out of pure jealously — but I draw the line at child rape, and let’s not quibble that Jordan might have been in her early teens or even as old as 16 when the abuse happened. It happened and that’s the end of it.
Further DAYS Musings
* Given the plethora of metaphorical slaps in the face that he’s delivered to her over the years, does Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux (Cady McClain) really think that Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) would choose her over Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), or were those just the dolls talking?
* Not that I believe for one millisecond that such an event will transpire, but what would University Hospital do if Dr. Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) did succumb to her illness? She literally does it all, including attempting to find a cure for what ails her and her fellow poisoning victims. Is this why Days of our Lives is reintroducing Mike Horton (Roark Critchlow)?
