When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
Days of our Lives: The Critic’s POV
Given that, in the months since Days of our Lives has moved to Peacock, we’ve seen a whole act randomly repeated and closing credits suddenly cutting in mid-scene in the middle of an episode, I’m half convinced that an entire scene was missing from Monday’s show.
One minute Kate (Lauren Koslow), Steve (Stephen Nichols), and Chad (Billy Flynn) are staring down the barrel of a baddie’s gun and the next Steve’s arm is up in a sling after it was apparently grazed by a bullet. Did the show really think that we wouldn’t want to be privy to the shoot ’em up action? Could they not afford to stage the shot ’em up action? Did they just lose the shot ’em up action scene altogether?
To quote an old Tootsie Pop commercial, “The world may never know.”
And speaking of missed opportunities, how could the show relay EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel) forced sensitivity training and anger management course and not show them to us? The bits practically write themselves, and at least they would have served as a sort of payoff for all the juvenile action we’ve had to witness between the feuding brothers DiMera and the women who love them.
Further DAYS Musings
* “That poor, old thing.” Damn! Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) sure can be vicious…and that’s why I love her.
* Here’s hoping that Ron Carlivati isn’t planning on retconning Megan’s (Miranda Wilson) long ago aborting of Bo’s (Peter Reckell) baby. I don’t think I can stomach Dimitri (Peter Porte) being a Brady/Kiriakis relation — his status as an adjacent DiMera is already grating.
* Man, is it just me or does it seem like DAYS suddenly [though perhaps necessarily] accelerated Colin’s (Jasper Newman) revenge scheme?
* Was there a better scene this week than Marlena (Deidre Hall) taking her battling brood to task? Well, yes. And that was Xander (Paul Telfer) ruminating on his plethora of screwups. And then there was the reckoning between Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Talia (Aketra Sevillian).
