When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.
What is with all the conditional love on Days of our Lives? Also, isn’t Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) just the definition of a hypocrite?
I get it, Gwen (Emily O’Brien) is a screw-up. But she’s Jack’s screwup. And Xander (Paul Telfer) is supposed to be Jack’s best friend, and let’s face it, Xander is nothing but Jack 2.0 with a Scottish accent.
Seriously, Jack has raped, lied, blackmailed, used and abused, and cheated on women, participated in a jailbreak, committed plagiarism (have I forgotten anything?) and always he’s been forgiven.
Jennifer’s (sometimes Melissa Reeves, sometimes Cady McClain) love has never been conditional. Her family’s love has never been conditional. Her friends’ love has never been conditional. He’s been given chance, after chance, after chance, after chance and yet, he feels he has the right to pass judgment on and wash his hands of Gwen?
As for Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), Xander hit the nail on the head when proffered that the appeal of being with a bad boy had worn off. I also think it was a case of Sarah tiring of having a ‘project’ that she never seemed to complete — i.e. molding Xander into her ideal man, rather than accepting him, flaws and all.
* Dear Ron Carlivati, plots have to wrap up at some point. Payoffs are necessary. Was it really necessary to further prolong the reunion between Gabi (Camila Banus) and Stefan (Brandon Barash)?
* I was absolutely tickled when Sarah opined that there were lines that Victor (the late, great John Aniston) wouldn’t cross. Clearly, the extent of his wrongdoings has never been made clear.
* Is Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) best friend? I mean…I guess I can see that. It does make sense in the here and now and given all they’ve been through together the last decade or so. But once upon a time — back in something called the ’80s — she and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) were pretty close; it’s not their fault writers failed to pick that thread back up.
I guess it’s also weird hearing Marlena say that since so many of her indelible — though now seemingly forgotten — friendships were with members of the opposite sex — Don Craig (post-divorce), Chris Kositchek (Josh Taylor), Tony (Thaao Penghlis), Abe (James Carver), and Eugene Bradford.
* So, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) can sleep in the office — which I’m assuming has some sort of Murphy or day bed — but Wendy (Victoria Grace) is relegated to a sofa in the main room of Allie’s apartment? Does that sound right?
And correct me if I’m wrong, but for Alex’s underwear to be in plain view on the said sofa that must mean that a) he threw them atop Wendy while she slumbered and she never noticed or b) she unwittingly slept atop them and c) she somehow failed to notice them when she gathered up her sheets, blankets, and pillows.
That’s honestly more unbelievable than what is going on with Marlena, Kayla, and Kate (Lauren Koslow) and the Big Bad who’s manipulating them through bureaucracy.
