Days of our Lives: A Critic’s Personal Highlight
Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) is dead…and I wished that I felt something. But given that this is Days of our Lives, I know that Kate Roberts isn’t “dead” dead, she’s only soap opera dead, meaning that in a few days or a few weeks’ time, she’ll be back up and running around Salem making friends and enemies alike rue the day they mourned her.
Likewise, I’m not in the least bit anticipating the “death” scenes awaiting me in the wings. Sure, I love Kayla Brady Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) and Marlena Evans Black (Deidre Hall) as much as the next DAYS superfan — do you still watch Julia Roberts? — but given that I already know that there are no real stakes in this storyline, why bother caring?
That said, I can’t help but sheepishly admit that I am looking forward to the trio of femme’s adventures in Purgatory. You’re reading a column written by a bona fide fan of Viki Lord Buchanan’s cheesetastic journey to heaven aboard the USS Spielberg, so I eagerly await what’s in store for our golden girls.
Further DAYS Musings
* Can we, once and for all, put a moratorium on all this talk of Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) kidnapping his daughter? The man has full custody of Rachel Black (Finley Rose Slater) so he can send her off to anywhere he likes, with anyone he so chooses as long as it doesn’t endanger Rachel in any way, shape, form, or fashion.

Also, if Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) was indeed so concerned about her kid’s well-being, why did go to all the effort of picking out and donning her most clinging sweater dress, dangliest earrings, and doing her hair and makeup?
* I can’t tell if Days of our Lives is not so subtly implying that I should change my allegiance from Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) and Sarah Horton Cook (Linsey Godfrey) to Xander and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien), but that is what’s beginning to happen.
* I must say that Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) truly impressed me by choosing common sense over uninhibited sex. Wonders will never cease.
* Li, Li, Li (Remington Hoffman)…you’re just terrible. I’m trying to feel for ya, I really am…but I got nothing.
