Christopher Sean Recast? Would You Accept A New Paul?

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) fans were shocked and devastated last week when news broke of Christopher Sean’s departure.

The actor’s career is taking off outside of soaps and he opted not to renew his contract. Of course, this news comes in the middle of a big storyline in which Will and Paul’s romance is front and center, but Will wants his memories back and his old feelings for Sonny could overwhelm him.

This means the character is a pivotal one so Soap Hub asked if you’d accept a new actor in the role of Paul and nearly 5,000 of you weighed in.

Don’t Do It!
“No one else can play him,” cry 70% of DAYS fans who are devastated by this loss. Sean was the first to bring Paul to life four years ago, an ex-baseball player who not only turned out to be Sonny’s ex-boyfriend, but also John’s never-before-heard-of-son.

Sean has broken ground as Paul as a viable member of a triangle with DAYS’ first gay married couple.

He had an affair with Will when Will and Paul were still newlyweds, nearly married Sonny when Will was presumed dead, and now is back in a romance with Will.

You feel Sean is absolutely one of a kind and nobody else can fit into the role as easily.

Sure, Why Not?
Then, there are the 29% of you who feel other characters have been recast successfully, so why not Sean. You’re into the story more than the actor. While you would like to keep Sean, you understand that Sean must move on–and Will and Paul must go on. If someone else plays Paul, then so be it.

The Small Minority
The final 1% don’t seem to care what happens with Paul as long as Sonny and Will reunite. And, if Will’s Dr. Rolf Memory Serum works, that just may happen.
