The love story of Chad and Abigail has captivated Days of Our Lives (DOOL) fans, who continue to root for the couple whether they’re together or apart.

The pair, who met in 2011 and began dating, eventually ended up going their separate ways.

Chad (then-Casey Deitrich) took up with Abigail’s best friend Melanie, while Abigail (then-Kate Mansi) embarked on an affair with Chad’s brother EJ (James Scott) and later dated Cameron and Ben (Robert Scott Wilson).

Ultimately, they found their way back to one another and wed, but the union was short-lived.

Afternoon Delight
Having denied their passion for months, Abigail and Chad finally gave into temptation and had sex in the DiMera garden. Afterward, Chad carried Abigail up to his bedroom, which led to a night of lovemaking.

Admission of Love
After pushing Abigail away to protect her from Stefano, Chad made a final attempt to reconcile. He professed his love, noting that he can see Abigail feels the same way. Abigail announced it’s too late, because she’s pregnant with Ben’s child.

A Fiery Reunion
Chad tracked Abigail to a cabin, where Ben is holding her and her newborn son hostage in 2015. Ben overpowered him, handcuffed Chad and Abigail to a burning bed, and ran off with the baby. Chad freed himself and Abigail and carried them outside to safety.

Happy Father’s Day
Abigail placed Thomas in Chad’s arms, after revealing that he is the infant’s bio daddy. Suddenly, Chad’s memories of Abigail, which Andre tried to erase from his mind, came flooding back to him. He vowed to protect them forever.

A Wedding to Remember
Chad and Abigail exchanged “I Do’s” in the DiMera living room, surrounded by family and friends. Abigail called her groom her hero, soul mate and best friend. Chad countered that his bride and their son are everything he’s ever wanted.

Return from the Dead
Convinced Chad has moved on with Gabi, Abigail decided to leave Salem without telling him she’s alive. As Abigail was saying goodbye to Thomas in his nursery, Chad walked in and was stunned to see her standing there in the flesh. Tears fill Chad’s eyes as he reached out to touch her, unable to believe she’s real.

A New Year, A Renewed Love?
New Year’s Eve 2016 leads to a midnight kiss for Chad and Abigail. The couple head upstairs to Chad’s bedroom at the DiMera manse where they make love for the first time in months. Yet, the couple remained unsure what it means for their future together.
