Catching Up With Miranda Wilson: A Long-Lost DiMera Is Back In The Acting Biz

Who can forget the second of Stefano’s many long-lost children to surface in Salem in the form of Megan Hathaway on Days of Our Lives (DOOL)? Well, it turned out she was really Megan DiMera, Bo’s old high school sweetheart, and she really wanted Hope out of the picture.

After introducing Bo (Peter Reckell) to a child who really wasn’t his, Megan got her comeuppance thanks to Larry Welch and a hot tub. The character suffered a head injury, was electrocuted for good measure, and we never heard from her again.

However, we did hear from the actress who played her on various soaps over the years. Cheryl-Ann Wilson went on to have roles on Capitol and Santa Barbara, both soaps that are no longer with us.

Since those days, the actress has changed her name to Miranda and often calls herself “Miranda Cheryl-Ann Wilson” so people remember her days as a 1980s soap queen.

After taking years off from the acting scene to raise her children in England, where she lived for nearly two decades, she’s back.

Soap Hub caught up with Wilson recently, as she explained why she left acting–and why she’s returning.

“While raising my kids, I co-founded and project managed the set up of a holistic primary school in Lewes, East Sussex, in England,” she said.

“I am a happier and emotionally richer person, as a result of the choice to leave my acting career to focus on raising my boys and studying holistic health, education, and emotional intelligence.

“And after raising my kids, I knew I wanted to return to the career I dearly loved. So I moved to London, from the county town when my kids grew up.”

Wilson promptly won some small film and theater roles and currently appears in a film called An American Attorney in London, about a man who loses his passport while on business in the historic British city.

She plays a character she describes as an “enigma” and reveals the audience doesn’t really know where she’s coming from until the bitter end. An American Attorney in London is making its way through the film festival circuits right now.

However, before she landed this flick, she did make a stop in Los Angeles to help DAYS celebrate a major milestone two years ago.

“In 2015, I came over for the DAYS 50th and was so very touched and thrilled by the reception from fans and fellow castmates,” she said.  “It certainly reignited my desire to be a part of the Hollywood family, once again. So, now that I have a bit of current work to show, I’ve moved back over here to continue my career.”

Would Wilson rule out another daytime go-around? “Of course, I would do a soap again.”

Okay, daytime, we’re waiting to see this talent back on our soap screens.

Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
