Days of Our Lives’ Stefano had nine-plus lives. Sadly, actor Joseph Mascolo, who so memorably played the role on and off since 1982, did not.
He passed away on December 8, 2016, making it seem like Hope’s in-cold-blood murder of him might actually stick this time around. The questions is: Should it? We asked and here’s what you had to say.
Joe For the No!
For 72%, the answer was simple: No one can replace Mascolo. He — and, by extension, Stefano — should rest in peace. (Though, in Stefano’s case, it’s doubtful where he ended up is all that peaceful.)
No Drama, No Daytime
On the other hand, 15% of you are open to the possibilities, voting: Sure – He’s a character that always brings drama.
Perhaps you’re aware that many beloved characters currently on the canvas were recasts, including Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), Kate (Lauren Koslow), Roman (Josh Taylor – and he even played a different character on the same show!), and Chad (Billy Flynn).
They were all able to make the characters their own. Maybe a recast Stefano should be given the same opportunity–especially if we could possibly convince a veteran daytime powerhouse to step into the lead.
