Camila Banus: Forget Chad, She’s “In Love With” Marci Miller

Things are already complicated enough between JJ, Gabi, and Chad Days of Our Lives. During a break with JJ, Gabi shared a kiss with Chad, only to reunite with JJ a couple of days later. And, actress Camila Banus has a lot to say on the matter.

The complications are really going to intensify when Chad’s presumed dead wife, Abigail, who’s also JJ’s sister, re-enters the picture.

“Abigail, at the end of the day, was one of Gabi’s best friends,” says Camila Banus (Gabi). “They share a lot of history and drama. Gabi really loves Abigail, and she’s in love with her brother, JJ. So it’s already a sensitive situation.”

That Kiss!
And its going to get even more “sensitive” when Abigail, who already suspects Chad and Gabi have feelings for each other, eventually learns her husband and her BFF shared a kiss.

“Gabi is somebody who Abigail shared information with about her relationship with Chad,” notes Banus. “She’s somebody Abigail has shared intimate moments with about the love that she has for Chad. So Gabi knows all this. She knows exactly how Abigail feels about Chad, but Gabi also knows what she feels, too.”

There in lies the problem. While Gabi loves JJ, she’s also been battling the powerful pull she feels toward Chad; particularly since that passionate kiss.

“You can’t control your heart,” points out Banus. “The heart wants what the heart wants.”

But Then There’s JJ…

“I think the JJ and Gabi storyline is beautiful,” says Banus. “And it should be explored still. What we did was not enough. It needs to be more. But that’s going a little further into the future…”

In the interim, Banus notes that she’s been spending a lot of time off screen with both Billy Flynn (Chad) and Marci Miller (Abigail).

Making Memories
“It’s been really great for the chemistry of our friendship and for developing memories with the two of them,” explains Banus. “It’s easier when we work together for everybody to just get each other. Billy and I didn’t really have a moment where we sat together and said, ‘Okay. This is how Chad and Gabi’s relationship is going to be.’ Every day that we came in to work, we just tried to incorporate as much logic, sensitivity and heart into the storyline as we could.”

And throughout it all, Banus has enjoyed working with Flynn.

“We’re a little similar in that we both work pretty fast,” recounts Banus. “I think we mesh pretty well, too. Billy’s a pretty funny guy. Usually, when we’re in a scene in the moment, he makes it pretty comfortable with his comedy and his sense of humor. I try to defuse as well with humor. So we’re a nice combination of personalities.”

Mad About Marci
Adding Miller to the mix has been easy, particularly for Banus, who admits, “I’m in love with her. I was just telling my boyfriend that I can’t stop talking about her. I said, ‘It sounds like I’m in love with her.’ He’s a little bit jealous,” she adds with a laugh.

“It’s only because Marci is so marvelous and so wonderful,” continues Banus. “She brings this completely different energy to not only the character but our show. Marci is such a high-spirited, simple beautiful lady. Like I said, I sound like I’m in love with her. I honestly can’t stop raving about her.”
