The current storyline about JJ contemplating suicide has hit home for more than just the Days of Our Lives (DOOL) audience. Actress Camila Banus, who plays Gabi, revealed to her Twitter followers exactly what it’s meant to her.
On today’s air show, Gabi happened upon JJ (Casey Moss) just as he was about to head out to the square to end it all. Gabi did some fast talking to get him to realize he was still needed by those who love him — including her and her daughter, Ari. By the end, it seemed like she had gotten through to him.
The scenes had to have been extremely cathartic for the actress, who lost her own father to suicide. The comments about her performance meant a lot to her, so the actress opened up on Twitter about why it meant so much to play these scenes.
Banus dedicated the story to her father, who passed away several years ago after losing his own fight with depression.
Earlier this year, the actress did an interview with Leaha Hammond about mental illness. You can see the interview the interview below in which she talks about her father’s struggles as well as her own see the special message she shared with fans.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
