Daytime fans were thrilled to see Cady McClain pop up on Days of our Lives last year, even though it meant temporarily replacing one of the show’s most beloved actresses, Melissa Reeves as Jennifer Horton.
Cady McClain OFF DAYS
But it appears McClain’s time in Salem is coming to an end. According to the Feb. 22, 2021 issue of Soap Opera Digest, the actress will be leaving the role, with Jennifer headed off to Boston. Her final appearance is scheduled for Feb. 17.
A popular daytime vet, McClain has played Dixie Cooney on All My Children, Rosanna Cabot on As the World Turns, and replaced Cynthia Watros as Kelly Andrews on The Young and the Restless.
She landed the DAYS job in October when Reeves opted not to return to filming after the COVID-19 hiatus. Storylines dictated that Jennifer be around, so McClain hopped into the role, knowing it would be temporary.
Fans quickly warmed up to McClain in the role and she had some great scenes with Matthew Ashford (Jack) during her time on the show.
It’s not certain if and when Reeves will return to the role, one that she has played for almost 35 years, but Jennifer is a fixture on the show and the character needs to come back soon. If Reeves is still not ready to return, McClain would certainly be welcomed back.
McClain’s last week was certainly memorable. Jennifer had some harsh words for her mom, Laura Horton, and then learned the sad news that Laura had died in Gwen’s hotel room soon after their heated exchange. She’s also been making it work with Jack after a brief estrangement.
McClain’s final scenes will take place at Laura’s funeral, and then Jennifer will head out of town to deal with the pain of it all. But, this being DAYS, and Rolf always close by, whether or not Laura’s death sticks is in question. Jennifer would be the perfect character to unravel any mystery going on. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
