On Days Of Our Lives (DOOL), it’s Abigail, Gabigail, Lauragail–really, how many Abigails can you count in Salem?
And when, exactly, did Jennifer and Jack’s little girl start cracking up like this? Almost 5,000 fans put on their glasses and put up their hair (so you know they’re serious psychologists), to make their diagnoses:
Gabbin’ About the Cabin
Abigail (Marci Miller) didn’t exactly have what you’d call an easy pregnancy. First, she was confused about who the real father was. But that’s a pretty common complication on any soap.
Then, tests were tampered with to make it seem like Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) was the daddy, rather than Chad (Billy Flynn). Another run of the mill malady.
But then, Ben kidnapped Abigail and forced her to give birth prematurely in a cabin in the woods. He shot the midwife who helped with the delivery. When Chad came to Abigail’s rescue, he tied them both to the bed and set it on fire, before absconding with the baby.
Abigail and Chad eventually tracked down little Thomas, banished Ben to a mental hospital, and learned that the tyke was a Horton-DiMera, after all.
But 65% of you believe the entire thing was a wee bit stressful, and likely triggered Abigail’s split personalities in the first place. They just lay dormant until the next trauma, which seemed to happen when Abigail shot Andre (Thaao Penghlis).
Try Again
For 34% of the audience, the cabin and Thomas’ birth are ancient history. Abigail had psychological problems afterwards – phantom Ben, anyone? – but they weren’t of the multiple personality variety.
Sure, Abigail faked her own death. But it was her own death, not the deaths of multiple women who live in her head. This is a brand-new and exciting crises for Abigail.
