Bye-Bye Vivian?!? Why Killing Off the Days of Our Lives Villainess Is A HUGE Mistake

Days of Our Lives‘ queen of mayhem and manipulation, Vivian Alamain, is biting the dust in a plot move that can only be described one way: a HUGE mistake.

Since Louise Sorel returned as the devious Vivian on New Year’s Eve 2017, she’s been a Salem sparkplug.

There’s nobody better at stirring the action than this daytime vet. Sorel’s a master at commanding every scene, and she always delivers with flare, gusto and a perfectly placed tinge of comedy. The soap won’t be the same without her.

Sole Son
Killing off Viv leaves her son, Stefan (Tyler Christopher), with absolutely no support system. Now that Abigail’s (Marci Miller) alter, Gabby, is gone, he doesn’t have a friend, let alone an acquaintance in town.

Who will he talk to? Share his plans, schemes, and dreams with? Plus, their fiery, fun mother-son relationship was unique and will be sorely missed.

Nemesis No More
Without Vivian under her skin, Kate (Lauren Koslow) loses a lot of her edge. Her favorite foe to maneuver against is gone. And, above all, there’s no one to drive her.

The two women’s longtime rivalry kept Kate at the top of her game and a vital force to be reckoned with, as she looked out for Chad’s (Billy Flynn) best interests, while Vivian protected Stefan’s. With Vivian out of the picture, all that is lost.

Comedy Central
Aside from Vivian’s scheming and maneuvering, the character also brought a wonderful comedic element to the soap.

Whether she was cracking jokes about Abigail’s alters or needling Kate about conversing with the deceased Stefano’s portrait, Viv added a much-needed lightness to the heaviness in the house of DiMera. Without her, the clan seems doomed to slip back into dramatic dullsville.

The House of Kiriakis
The DiMeras weren’t the only family in town Vivian injected her big bold magnificent self into.

Her presence was also strongly felt among the Kiriakis clan, whether she was trying to re-insinuate herself into Victor’s (John Aniston) life or bring down Sonny (Freddie Smith) via her boytoy-for-hire Leo (Greg Rikaart). Vivian’s untimely demise leaves the K’s without their most formidable and intriguing antagonist.

We can only hope someone really does have Dr. Rolf’s magic and did what Dr. Rolf would do…Where there’s a will…
