Bryan Dattilo’s Take on Lucas and Adrienne’s Days of Our Lives Wedding Bells

It looks like second time’s the charm for Lucas Horton on “Days of Our Lives.” After first proposing to Adrienne at Chad and Abby’s wedding and getting let down easy, Lucas finally put a ring on her finger today.

For a while, it seemed Lucas (Bryan R. Dattilo) and Adrienne’s (Judi Evans) romance was nothing but a fling. After all, she still had feelings for longtime husband, Justin (Wally Kurth). Even after they divorced, the pair tried giving it another shot. However, it wasn’t in the cards and Lucas and Adrienne somehow found their way back to one another.

Today, DAYS treated us to a romantic scene we rarely see in Salem of late. Lucas got down on one knee at TPD and asked that all-important question again. This time, Adrienne couldn’t resist and said yes.

Actor Bryan R. Dattilo, who has taken from Lucas from privileged teen to mature adult over the decades, promises quite the wedding come fall.

“Of course, this will be a typical Salem wedding where things do not go the way they’re supposed to,” Dattilo told TV Insider. “Expect fireworks—all the fireworks you need. Things will hit the fan, but you’ll get a good payoff.”

If it seems odd to you that this rarely-seen couple got such a romantic proposal, it seems odd to us, too. Even Dattilo acknowledges he has to fill in the holes in Lucas’s off-screen life.

“The writers keep Lucas’s life very vague, so I have to fill in a lot of the blanks on my own. I figure he’s been staying at the Salem Inn, and maybe co-managing it so that he has a free place to stay,” he told TV Insider. “Maybe Adrienne can move in there. Lucas also travels a lot because he works for the DiMeras.”

Dattilo warned fans that not everyone will be happy with this turn of events. Sonny (Freddie Smith) is returning to Salem soon and just wants his parents back together, and of course, there’s Kate (Lauren Koslow).

“As for Kate, what else is new? She’s, like, ‘What are you thinking, Lucas? Adrienne is Sonny’s mother!'” Dattilo said. “She doesn’t think there’s anything real there. She badmouths all of Lucas’s women. In the past, he’s felt betrayed by that, and confused. Now he just thinks she’s crazy.”
