Days of our lives spoilers (DOOL) reveal a fight with Xander leaves Brady shot and gravely wounded. And, unfortunately, Nicole can’t help the man she loves, because Xander forces her and Holly to take off with him.
A Wounded Man
“Brady is left incapacitated,” says Eric Martsolf (Brady). “He’s seriously injured as a result of this gunshot.”
His fate appears dire, until Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Paul (Christopher Sean) arrive on the scene having tracked him down. The pair spring into action, seeking medical attention for Brady and jetting him to Salem University Hospital, where his condition is critical.
Obliterated Bliss
Eventually, Brady regains consciousness, and his thoughts immediately turn to Nicole and Holly. He realizes the happy future he was planning with the two of them and his son, Tate, is in dire jeopardy.
“After their long history – the courting, the breakups, the friendship they developed over the years — Brady and Nicole had finally found each other,” notes Martsolf. “They were ready for domestic bliss. Unfortunately, their time of happiness was cut extremely short.”
Courtesy of the madman Xander (Paul Telfer), Brady is now “worried for Nicole and Holly’s lives,” declares Martsolf. “He knows that Xander has them, and God knows what he’s going to do to them.”
Knight Down
Normally, the soap’s resident knight in shining armor would take off and ride to their rescue, but that’s impossible.
“Brady’s unable to go after Nicole, because he’s experiencing an incredible, horrible medical condition as a result of this gunshot,” explains Martsolf. “So he has to rely on a relative to find Nicole before the police do.”
Namely, Eric. Brady urges his stepbrother to go on a rescue mission to track down Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Holly.
“Nicole’s a fugitive,” points out Martsolf. “She’s on the run with Holly. Brady feels it’s incredibly important for her to turn herself in for her case, rather than have the police find her.”
Turns to His Brother
What’s the reason behind Brady turning to Eric for help? Simple. It’s Nicole and Eric’s long, storied past.
“Brady knows that Eric cares about Nicole. He knows that his brother will do everything he can to find her,” says Martsolf. “He prioritizes Nicole and Holly’s safety above anything else and begs his brother to go after them and find them. And, honestly, at this point in time, Eric is the only person other than the police that Brady can trust.”
Read for a Rescue
Lucky for Brady, not to mention the abducted Nicole and Holly, Eric agrees to help.
“It’s not that hard of a sell,” contends Martsolf. “Brady’s assumptions are correct about Eric’s feelings. He’ll do whatever he can to get Nicole back and get her to safety.”
Plus, the move could ultimately serve as some sort of redemption for Eric. After all, it was his drunk driving that cost Nicole the life of her fiancé Daniel
“I’m sure that’s a part of [Brady asking for Eric’s help], as well,” says Martsolf. “It’s, ‘Here’s your chance to really find some peace with this situation. Save Nicole.’”
