They played mother and son for decades on Days of Our Lives and now Peter Reckell pays tribute to Peggy McCay upon her death.
McCay passed away last week at age 90 but she left quite a legacy behind her, including her influence on a young Peter Reckell, who portrayed Caroline’s beloved son, Bo, her secret love child with Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston).
The actor took to social media to share what his onscreen mother meant to him… with incredible touching tweets.
“I was so fortunate to have worked with some amazing actors that shaped the actor and person I am. Looking in Peggy’s eyes, all I could see was a Mom who loved me, and wanted the best for me. She was always so committed to the story. Those sparkling eyes. RIP” he wrote in tribute.
The actor was also moved by a tribute video shared by Angie Marino. He then shared it with his Twitter followers with the following words.
“This is beautiful! Brought back so many wonderful memories. She truly was a powerful, loving presence, I miss her so much. Thanks for putting this together for all of us who love her. Lots of love, @peterreckell”
Marino also shared a touching clip from DAYS of the two actors, prompting and Reckell to say, “This one, reality and story telling, ARE the same.”
Soap Hub sends our condolences to Peter Reckell and all of Peggy McCay’s friends, family, coworkers, and fans during this sad time.

“The moment is right.” THIS day and week in 2012, after talking to Caroline, Hope & Roman, Bo decides to resign from the police force for the very last time to spend more time with his precious Ciara. #Oct1and5 @peterreckell #PeggyMcCay #LaurenBoles #6YearsAgo #Days pic.twitter.com/0cMr1tAXaq
