Characters go through dry spells on soap operas all the time, but some fan favorites languished on the backburner for far too long over the last 12 months.
Granted there’s only so much air time on Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless, and, especially on 30-minute serial The Bold and the Beautiful. However, here’s hoping the following folks get some juicy stories they can sink their teeth into in 2020 to the delight of their loyal admirers.
John McCook and Rena Sofer’s characters spent a lot of 2019 as being “talk to’s” for others. There’s an old adage about marriage being storyline death for a couple and it appears to be one that’s applicable to Eric and Quinn. How about bringing back Felicia (Lesli Kay) or Kristen (Tracy Melchior) to disapprove of their dad’s union?
What’s the real reason Quinn bolted from Las Vegas all those years ago? Might Shauna (Denise Richards) or Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) show interest in Eric? Quinn, as Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) found out, throws a mean vase so everyone needs to watch out if Eric starts straying!
Currently, the Last Blast gang appears in a DOOL App series titled (what else?) Last Blast Reunion. Assuming everyone makes it out alive, we’d like to see Shawn (Brandon Beemer), Belle (Martha Madison), Philip (Jay Johnson), Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin), and company make their way back to Salem. This former teen set is in the prime of their lives and we’d love to see them on DAYS on a regular basis!
Jordan (Briana Nicole Henry) and Curtis (Donnell Turner) are far from absent on the Port Charles scene. She’s on the case of every crime committed in Port Charles and he’s helping Laura (Genie Francis) when needed.
They’ve talked about how to pay her medical bills, but Jordan and Curtis could use a big story of their own. How about Jordan getting jealous of her husband’s friendship with the mayor? Henry and Turner deserve their own tale — not ones in which they support other characters.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) was the focus of a special anniversary show earlier this year as her portrayer celebrated 40 years in Genoa City. Lately, though, she’s been relegated to being Victor’s (Eric Braeden) co-conspirator in faking his death and listening to Jack (Peter Bergman) talk about new family member Theo (Tyler Johnson). Fans are used to seeing Nikki on the front-burner. Hopefully, in 2020, she’ll return to the forefront of the action.
