Sami was ripping apart Kristen’s room, looking for information on EJ. Because this is Days of Our Lives, and Kristen claiming she knows where Sami’s presumed dead husband is – alive – is a perfectly reasonable claim.
After all, both of Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) parents were one considered dead. And she named her son, Johnny, after her stepfather when he was assumed to be the same. Not to mention Sami’s son, Will (Chandler Massey). He was dead. But, now he’s alive.
Plus, there’s the fact that EJ is a DiMera. Son of Stefano. Who has more lives than a matinee of CATS. Can any DiMera stay dead for long? Here’s how over 5,000 of you see it.
Never Ever
For 86% of longtime viewers, you never bring a hankie to a DiMera funeral, because there’s nothing to cry about it.
He’ll be back. Always. Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) is just the latest example. You’re pretty sure Andre (Thaao Penghlis) will be making his way back sooner or later, and, heck, Tony, too. Anna (Leann Hunley) can finally lose that urn!
And EJ – you are 100% sure he’ll be back with Sami eventually. Maybe a little shorter, maybe a little less English, maybe with slightly less chiseled cheekbones. But, like the Hamilton song says, “You’ll be back…Wait and see…You’ll remember you belong to me….”
Wouldn’t It Be Nice?
And then there are the 13% who figure death comes for all of us… eventually. Your minds were mostly made up by the fact that Joseph Mascolo, who so masterfully played Stefano throughout all his non-saintly returns from the dead, has passed away. And it would be insulting to the actors and the fans if he were to be recast.
Afterthoughts
Meanwhile, 42 viewers just hope for no more zombies in Salem. That is, when they’re not asking, “Who cares?” That’s the real kiss of death for a soap.
Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
