Alison Sweeney On Another Days Of Our Lives Return: “We Talked About It.”

If you had a blast watching Alison Sweeney’s return as Sami last year on Days Of Our Lives (DOOL), you’re not alone. The Emmy-nominated actress had a terrific time reprising her role as Marlena and Roman’s impulsive daughter.

Is she open to another short-term run? Soap Hub caught up with Sweeney at the Hallmark Channel’s winter TV Critics bash in Pasadena, Calif. and got the scoop!

“Ron [Carlivati, head writer] pulled together my favorite parts of daytime,” says Sweeney, a self-proclaimed DAYS fan of the 80s when the show specialized in adventure.

“That’s what I grew up with,” she says. So you can imagine Sami going to New Orleans to get her son Will (Chandler Massey) back and encountering an unbalanced Susan was a welcomed storyline!

“That fun element had been missing from the show,” Sweeney says. “That’s why I watched the show! You want to know you’re getting romance, drama, and suspense.”

Sweeney says her recent five-week stint with the show was exciting. “I got to do something different every day. There was no repeating of [what happened the day before].

“Sami was on a mission! I’d never gotten to work with Eileen Davidson [ex-Susan/ex-Kristen; Ashley, The Young and the Restless] as much as I did this time. Our scenes were fun. She’s amazing!”

So can DAYS entice the actress to do another limited return to Salem?

“Yes, they can!” says a smiling Sweeney. “We talked about it. I put it out there. I said, ‘Make this fun and I’ll come back’ and they did.”

Does she think DAYS can make another return as exciting?

“Ron can do it,” raves Sweeney. “He was really open with me and responsive. I have such a great working relationship with him.”
