Say it ain’t so, Abe! On Days Of Our Lives (DOOL), the good people of Salem – not to mention the good people watching at home – are in for the shock of their… well, uh… lives.
Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Rafe (Galen Garing) were forced to slap the cuffs on Mayor Abe (James Reynolds).
What’s the charge? Valerie (Vanessa Williams) and Eli (Lamon Archey) are suspicious about the money Abe has been spending recently on fancy gifts for Valerie, including jewelry.
The options are he came into an inheritance (his late wife, Lexie, was a DiMera, after all), he’s been very frugally putting away his civil service salary over the years and, now that Theo (Kyler Pettis) is grown, he’s having a good time spending it, or… he’s Dario’s (Jordi Vilasuso) partner-in-crime.
The Salem PD went with that last one. But how do the fans feel about it? Over 12,000 viewers played judge and jury.
Unrealistic!
This is ridiculous, fume 62% of you. Whoever heard of a fine, upstanding politician turning out to be all about himself, abusing the public trust and lining his own pockets? That kind of nonsense goes on in the real world, not on our soaps!
Well, except that time honest cop Bert Ramsey turned out to be mob head Mr. Big on General Hospital (this was pre-Sonny).
Or the judge (Jensen Buchanan) who reduced Adam’s sentence because she’d once had an affair with his dad on The Young and the Restless.
Or Guiding Light’s crooked Doris Wolfe. Or Another World’s Grant Harrison, who kept winning office… then being forced to resign in disgrace. Or… you get the picture.
But not Honest Abe!
About Time
On the other hand, 36% of you are so happy to see Abe get a story — any story — that you’re ready to see him confess to kidnapping the Lindbergh baby, as long as it gives him a meaty, front-burner love-story.
Abe is suddenly more interesting than he’s ever been, and you’re here for it!
