The backlash from fans over the DID story on Days of Our Lives (DOOL) has been swift, but today’s episode ending was CLASSIC DAYS… and here’s why.
For weeks, the story of Abigail’s (Marci Miller) emerging personalities has been contained to just Stefan (Tyler Christopher) and a little bit of Vivian (Louise Sorel), while Abby’s husband Chad (Billy Flynn) has been forced to look like a fool, upsetting viewers.
After all, he knows Abby so intrinsically, it’s hard to believe he wouldn’t realize that something is wrong with his beloved wife and get her help. But that isn’t the story right now. Instead, Abby is trying to get herself help and she’s turned to a very good source — Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).
And why wouldn’t she? Marlena has literally seen it ALL. The woman has survived being possessed by the devil. Surely she can handle a few Abby DiMera alters! So when Abby stayed out long enough today to give Marlena details of what’s been going on with her, you could see it dawn on Marlena — and so could Abby.
And unfortunately for Abby, so could Dr. Laura, who popped out before Abby could hear Marlena’s diagnosis. The moment Abby got her tell-tale headache, which meant that someone else was going to emerge, Marlena was fascinated. She knew something monumentous was happening and sat back, taking it all in. And that was EVERYTHING!
She watched as Dr. Laura sat at her desk, put on her glasses, and announced to her that she was about to tell Abby she has DID and sorry — Abby is in no shape to hear that news.
The look on Deidre Hall’s face made everything that Abby’s going through worth it and tomorrow should be even more incredible as Marlena deals with this alter.
Sure, elements of this story have been hokey. Dr. Laura and Gabigail fighting inside a locked room in Abby’s mind was a little much to handle but now that it’s moving into camptastic territory, viewers should really stick with it.
As the circle of who knows widens, things will kick into high gear, making DAYS Must-See TV once again.
