Watching Days of our Lives, everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the DOOL week that was.
Charlie Dale (Mike Manning) has met his maker, and that meeting was arranged by a seriously ticked-off Salemite with access to a handgun. The identity of that specific townsperson isn’t known as of yet, but we’re going to have great fun trying to figure it out.
Many a soap has been judged on its ability to craft a well done whodunit, and DAYS has had its share of past success, including The Salem Strangler, The Salem Slasher, and The Riverfront Knifer, as well as its snoozers – does anybody even remember that it was a drugged Nicole (Arianne Zucker) who skewered Deimos, with the steak knife, in the Martin House?
The “Sorry Charlie Murder” has gotten off to a rollicking start, and it’s also served the purpose of reintroducing Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) to the canvas, but we’re really hoping that the payoff is worthy of the excellent setup. Charlie’s assassin simply must be a character of great importance to the soap, and he or she must be brought to justice by the time the tale raps.
No pawning the crime off on some heretofore unknown second rape victim or on Gwen (Emily O’Brien) whose only purpose is engendering a Gabi/Abby team-up.
* Speaking of Gabi (Camila Banus), she did really think it wise to call Kate (Lauren Koslow) an aged narcissist in front of the woman’s son…who also just so happens to be her new boss? Gabi really is her own worse enemy. And while we’re on the subject of Kate…
* Correct us if we’re wrong, but Chad (Billy Flynn) was forced to vacate his position at DiMera because of allegations that he seduced a woman in his employ. So, wouldn’t the board have a very big problem with Jake (Brandon Barash) extending a job offer to Kate in the light of the fact that they are a bona fide couple?
* When Lani (Sal Stowers) announced that she had whittled down the guestlist for the twin’s christening to 88 people, did you also wonder whether or not she and Eli (Lamon Archey) actually know 88 people worth inviting?
* So, Kristen is out of Statesville and staying in John and Marlena’s townhouse…now what? What exactly is her game plan here? Continue to annoy Brady (Eric Martsolf) and hope that her repeated dismissals of Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) pay off? How long does she think that Brady will tolerate “Susan” and her territorial hovering?
All that said, props to her – and actress Stacy Haiduk – for that marvelous performance she put on when “Susan” received the call to once again channel Ciara (Victoria Konefal). As for Susan, as far as slip ups go, saying that her baby was in Rome, Italy was pretty bad. How exactly will she explain that one away?
* Anybody else feel bad for E.J.? His mother is not always there. He suffered the nightmare of nearly being burned alive, and he has a wife who just frequently ups and leaves him to go off and deal with her troublesome offspring. Who exactly is watching over, and caring for this poor man?
* First, Romeo and Juliette and now Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found. What classic literary masterpiece should Ciara be forced to read next? Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listing for air times. NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
