Love is blind both in real life and on soaps. Case in point: The Young and the Restless’ Victoria Newman Locke (played by Amelia Heinle) has every reason in the world to dump her lying husband Ashland Locke. As a woman in love, she can’t! Soap Hub is bestowing Performer of the Week Honors for Y&R on Vicki’s portrayer Heinle.

“I’m so sick of them trying to control me. Sometimes, it feels like I can’t even breathe anymore,” Victoria lamented to Ashland at the Grand Phoenix. While Ashland (Robert Newman) has a list of crimes, Amelia Heinle’s Victoria focused on her father Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) misdeeds. Informing Ashland that she wanted a future with him brought a smile to both of their faces. If the two could just shut out the world, they’d probably stand a better chance of making it. Alas, life doesn’t work like that.

Forgiving her husbands seems to be a habit of Victoria’s. Her former mate Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) got her kidnapped one time over some gambling debts he amassed. Vicki gave Billy another chance — why not afford Ashland another chance?

Amelia Heinle played a woman in love in scenes between Victoria and Ashland. She took a stronger stance going up against her family — Victor, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), and half-brother Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Even though Victoria is still using a cane from her accident, she proved to be a formidable force. She chastised her family for their treatment of Ashland and noted that Nick of all people should understand about a man being taken away from his son.

Vicki had additional words for her brother, telling him the night of her accident Ashland saved her life. “I’m sorry to disappoint you,” Heinle’s Victoria informed her brother. “That’s not going to work for me.” What does work for us is Heinle taking the material the show gives her makes it shine as a woman in love. Time will tell if this is the right decision or not, but we know Victoria will own her decisions.
