GH Spotlight: Maura West as Ava Jerome

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] member of the Jerome crime syndicate family, Ava’s life intentions have never been fine, upstanding, and moral. She became an art dealer as a young adult and had an affair with aspiring artist Robert “Franco” Frank.

When she became pregnant, Franco wanted to raise the baby together and was fascinated by her. Ava was not as fascinated with Franco, whose art became both dark and eerie and she raised her daughter, Lauren, away from her father.

When Lauren, now going by the name Kiki, was a college student, she began a relationship with Morgan Corinthos via an online gambling site. By now Ava knew Franco was really a Quartermaine and encouraged Kiki to visit her boyfriend in Port Charles so she’d grow close to her dad and close to the Quartermaine fortune.

Mother and daughter moved to Port Charles from Manhattan and Ava was shocked to see old flame Dr. Silas Clay there. Silas figured out that he was Kiki’s father, and not Franco after all. Morgan overheard this news and decided to keep it to himself.

Eventually, Ava’s presumed dead brother, Julian showed up in town and the two conspired to take back their mob territory from Sonny. At this time, Sonny was having emotional problems due to the death of his girlfriend, Connie. Ava convinced the bi-polar mobster to stop his medication and at a party, an erratic Sonny revealed Morgan knew Kiki’s paternity, so Kiki broke things off with Morgan and ended up sleeping with Ava for comfort. After Ava killed A.J. Quartermaine, Sonny covered for her and the two grew close over guilt. They slept together and now Ava had bedded both father and son.

When Ava told Sonny she was either pregnant with his child or grandchild, he forced her to live with him till the baby was born and Morgan could not understand why Ava had chose Sonny, despite her trying to get the message across that this was not a voluntary arrangement. In order for Julian to rescue her, she told him Sonny had killed A.J., but her life remained in danger even while pregnant.
