Helen Worth is a British television and theater actress who is best known for playing Gail Platt in the soap opera Coronation Street for over four decades.

Who Is Helen Worth?
She was born on January 7 in Ossett, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, but grew up in Morecambe, Lancashire. Worth’s grandmother ran a boarding house for music hall performers, which is how she got her interest in acting. She started performing at a young age and was cast as one of the Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music at the Palace Theater in London when she was 12.
Soap Career
After appearing in a few television shows, Worth was cast as Gail Platt on Coronation Street. She has been playing the role for over 40 years and has no plans of leaving the series, as she loves her job and the storylines. She even got a one-off special about herself, called Gail & Me, that aired in 2014.

Since playing Gail for so many years, it’s no surprise Worth has earned a number of awards throughout her career. She was honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Inside Soap Awards in 2006, and she also won an Outstanding Achievement Award at The British Soap Awards in 2014. Not to mention, she also received the British Soap Award for Scene of the Year in 2019.
Charity Work
Worth is committed to helping others. She is a patron of the Born Free Foundation, which helps to stop wild animal suffering and protect threatened species. She also spoke at the House of Commons in 2006 to propose changes to the Animal Welfare Bill.

The beloved actress married Michael Angelis in 1991, but they split in 2001. She then went on to marry music teacher Trevor Dawson on April 6, 2013.
