Emma Atkins is a British television actress who is best known for playing Charity Dingle in Emmerdale for nearly two decades.
Along with her work on the British soap, Atkins has also appeared in shows such as Doctors, Casualty, New Street Law, and I’m With Stupid. From where she was born and raised to her incredible hobby, here are five fast facts about the actress.
Who Is Emma Atkins?
She was born on March 31 in Silverdale, Lancashire, which is where she was also raised. She attended Our Lady’s R.C. High School before going off to Salford University.
Soap Career
Atkins was cast as Charity Dingle in Emmerdale back in 2000. This was her first role on a British television show. She left for a brief period of time but returned in October of 2009. She has been nominated for a number of awards thanks to her performance, including Best Actress at the British Soap Awards in both 2010 and 2018.

Theater Background
Along with her work in television, Atkins is also a theater veteran. She has appeared in plays such as Two, The Play What I Wrote, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She was also in Dick Whittington and Stop Messing About.

Getting Personal With Emma Atkins
Atkins welcomed her first child, son Albert, in March of 2015 with her partner Tom. She took a bit of a break from Emmerdale after giving birth, but she returned to work after two months to film a guest reappearance. She then returned full-time to the series six months later.
