Thomas Forrester has got it all going on: looks, charm, money, and a sense of humor. But, as viewers of The Bold and the Beautiful can attest to, looks can be deceiving! Douglas’s dad is dealing with some deep emotional issues and is so obsessed with Hope, he’s turned to a mannequin look-alike to help him deal with his feelings.

The Bold and the Beautiful Polling

Do you think that Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) is handling his desires for Hope properly by talking to a mannequin resembling her? Soap Hub posed this question to BB fans.

Break From Reality

A little over 89% of you feel that Thomas is not handling his situation well. Sure, the BB actors in real-life are using mannequins and taking on other methods to keep the sense of romance alive on the show while keeping the actors safer from COVID-19. But Thomas’s descent into mental illness has little to do with that.

Talking to the Hope mannequin — and believing that she’s talking back to him — shows that he’s in need of some immediate help. Like Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), let’s hope he gets it!

Nervous Laugh

The rest of you, about 11%, say that you’re entertained by Thomas talking to the doll. Perhaps you’ve seen late-night talk show hosts poking fun at BB stars for mannequin kissing scenes and you may see that this is something parallel to that. However, let’s hope the late show comics wouldn’t make light of a character who has a mental illness. Atkinson is doing compelling work as a man on the edge.

Paging Dr. Taylor Hayes

Many BB fans would have no problem extending the show to an hour and inviting back Bridget (Ashley Jones), Felicia (Lesli Kay), Jackie (Lesley-Anne Down), and many other past favorites to help flesh out the canvas. Alas, BB is still 30-minutes long and there’s only so much room. However, if there’s one character that needs to re-appear, it’s Taylor (Hunter Tylo).

Not only is Dr. Hayes’s daughter recovering from a pill addiction, but her son needs some therapy — stat! Here’s hoping the show re-introduces the character whenever it’s possible. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
