The horrifying Australian wildfires have destroyed land, killed millions of animals, and broken the hearts of people around the world — including the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful. It touches them a great deal considering they keenly know what has been lost, having shot there on location since the show is a huge hit down under.

The Bold and the Beautiful Stars Reach Out

She may play a heartless woman at times as Quinn on the show, but actress Rena Sofer brought home what it means to her to see the complete devastation that is happening half a world away with some Instagram posts.

“@boldandbeautifulcbs took us to #australia to film our show for our 30th anniversary. As a cast we were overwhelmed with the beauty of the country and the kindness of its people!! We were allowed to meet some of the beautiful animals that live on this amazing continent,” she wrote, sharing several pictures of her fellow cast interacting with the animals.

But then she highlighted the horrors going on. “Please know that Australia is on fire!! 20 humans have perished and millions of animals have died due to the fires!! Especially the koala bears who move so slowly and get their water from the trees that are burning. These people and animals need our help!! Countries may divide us but our humanity never should!!!”

How You Can Help

Co-star Darin Brooks, who plays Sofer’s onscreen son Wyatt, explains what you can do. “Go to @wireswildliferescue to help the animals and @redcrossau to help the families!”

Sofer adds, “Looking at the photos coming out of there are indescribably brutal and heartbreaking and I can’t imagine seeing this in person. Please don’t look away!! This is a new year and a new opportunity to start it off right by helping others in need!!! Thank you!! #australiafires #happynewyear #savetheanimals #savethekoala” The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.

Go to @wireswildliferescue to help the animals and @redcrossau to help the families! #Repost @gretathunberg ・・・ Australia is on fire. And the summer there has only just begun. 2019 was a year of record heat and record drought. Today the temperature outside Sydney was 48,9°C. 500 million (!!) animals are estimated dead because of the bushfires. Over 20 people have died and thousands of homes have burned to ground. The fires have spewed 2/3 of the nations national annual CO2 emissions, according to the Sydney Morning Herald. The smoke has covered glaciers in distant New Zealand (!) making them warm and melt faster because of the albedo effect. And yet. All of this still has not resulted in any political action. Because we still fail to make the connection between the climate crisis and increased extreme weather events and nature disasters like the #AustraliaFires That has to change. And it has to change now. My thoughts are with the people of Australia and those affected by these devastating fires.
