He’s no longer Thomas on The Bold and the Beautiful, but two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Pierson Fodé can be seen on his YouTube podcast The Fodé Philosophy. Recently, he had on as a guest a movie producer, who likens Fodé to a previously unknown actor who shot to stardom after being cast in X-Men.

Pierson Fodé Podcast

During the podcast chat, which is co-hosted by Fodé’s pal, Mark Dohner, X-Men producer Tom DeSanto likened Fodé to Hugh Jackman, who was cast in the 2000 film X-Men as Wolverine, a mutant with claws that pop out of his body and a heightened healing factor that allows him to recover from injuries.

“You remind me of that young Hugh Jackman walking in the door,” Desanto told Fodé. “Hugh was a Broadway guy. He had done one TV show called Correlli…The studio was nervous [because] this guy had never carried a movie before. Nobody knew who he was. There were several times they wanted to replace him.”

Fortunately, that didn’t happen and Jackman has gone on to become synonymous with the character of Wolverine, playing the mutant in numerous films including Logan (2017). Jackman, in fact, is so compelling as Wolverine fans “forgave” that that 6’2″ actor towers over the comic book version of Wolverine who is 5’3.”

Desanto says audiences connected with Jackman in the film when Wolverine (initially) failed to transfer his healing factor to Rogue (Anna Paquin), who was near death. “He’s a man looking for a family and he’s a man looking for people to love him whom he can love back. When you saw Wolverine crack [because he thinks Rogue has died] that’s when the audience fell in love with him.

“You,” DeSanto said to Pierson Fodé, “have that same mojo.” Needless to say, the actor was touched by his mentor and friend comparing him to the mega-star. “X-MEN producer Tom DeSanto shared secrets and inspiring things on the latest @fodephilosophy podcast,” Fodé shared on Instagram. “I’m so humbled and driven by your words as I step into the next leg of my journey with #manfromtoronto (@kevinhart4real @woodyharrelson ) this compliment is part of my motivation from here on out 🙌🏼❤️ #xmen #.”

Next up for Fodé is a starring role in the film The Man From Toronto, set to debut next year. Will there be a superhero role in his future? That won’t be surprising. Soap Hub will report on the actor’s roles as they develop. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
