Katherine Kelly Lang and her fellow castmates from The Bold and the Beautiful recently spent some time on Entertainment Tonight as co-hosts. Now, Lang is sharing some backstage secrets of her time as an ET co-host.
Katherine Kelly Lang And Co-Stars On Entertainment Tonight
For example, Lang, who has played Brooke Logan Forrester since day one of BB, knows all about slaps. She’s been slapped by Stephanie (Susan Flannery) numerous times, finally (finally!) striking back at the overbearing matriarch during the BeLieF takeover storyline in 1993. Since then, Brooke has slapped many rivals and even loved ones and they, in turn, have slapped Brooke right back!
So, it only made sense for ET host Kevin Frazer and correspondent Lauren Zima to ask Lang and Heather Tom (Katie) about soap opera slaps. “Oh, yeah, we know how to slap,” said Lang, who recently took an on-air smack from Rena Sofer’s Quinn as Brooke, Quinn, and Shauna (Denise Richards) had a knockdown drag-out fight over Shauna pursuing Ridge (Thorsten Kaye).
The Art Of The Soap Slap
“You have to gently let your hand slide off the other person’s cheek,” Lang explained to Zima, adding that the character “slapped” needs to turn their head away as if they’ve been struck.
“The other person has to really sell it,” noted Tom. “And if you can get some hair going [that’s great].”
Next, Tom and Lang did a brief demonstration of what a soap slap entails. Then, Lang showed Zima. “This is an honor,” Zima said as Lang faux smacked her. “What an honor! The soap opera slap!”
Zima tried out a stage slap on Frazier. To see the segment, check out Lang’s Instagram account below. Don’t miss an episode as the BB characters head to Zoe (Kiara Barnes) and Thomas’ (Matthew Atkinson) wedding. Will it happen? Will someone get slapped? Tune in to find out! The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
