As Bill Spencer, Jr. on The Bold and the Beautiful, Don Diamont plays a character who continues his father’s legacy as head of Spencer Publications. Off-screen, Diamont recently paid tribute to his real-life dad in honor of Memorial Day.
Don Diamont Honors His Personal Hero on Memorial Day
During a recent trip to the U.S.’s 50th state, Diamont recalled his late dad, who served in World War II. “I can’t help but think of Pearl Harbor when I’m in Hawaii,” the actor posted on Instagram. “Particularly on the occasions that we’re here on Memorial Day. We’ve visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial a few times.”
The strike on the U.S. on December 7, 1941, that set off the country’s involvement in World War II, impacted Diamont’s father greatly. “My late dad enlisted after that attack,” Diamont recalls. “This picture of him, a proud WW II Army Officer was taken on Oahu many years later. The Hawaiian Islands were my mom and dad’s favorite vacation spot. Thinking of him, a great dad, a man of principle and integrity, and all of our fallen heroes.” Diamont closed up his post with three folding hands prayer emojis.
Diamont’s followers and a pal from YR weighed in with supportive comments on his post. “Wow. Movie star looks right there!” wrote Scott Reeves (ex-Ryan). Added @lenie_64, “Beautiful picture of your dad.”
Veteran BB viewers recall that actor Jim Storm played Bill’s father on BB, Bill Spencer, Sr. He appeared in the show’s first episode and was none too pleased that Ridge Forrester had set his sights on his daughter Caroline.
The senior Spencer and Ridge had many verbal fights over Ridge’s treatment of Caroline, and later, the two men squabbled more over the late Caroline’s twin Karen. Today, Bill and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) are on somewhat amicable terms, but Ridge isn’t a fan of Bill’s interest in his wife Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
