Fans are rallying around Sally Spectra more than ever now that she’s going through a horrific medical crisis. Her portrayer, Courtney Hope, knows all about fan loyalty not only for her role as the flame-haired fighter on The Bold and the Beautiful but also from her work in the video game world.
Courtney Hope: Video Game Love
Hope, who recently won the award for Best Acting in a Game category at the New York Video Game Awards, has gotten to meet both soap opera and video game devotees. She says there’s definitely an overlap between the two passionate groups.
“The fans are equally devoted,” Hope recently told TV Insider. “Some fans of the game industry actually watch BB. They’ve said to me, ‘You’re on my show!’ It’s the same with [BB fans]. Some will say that their husband or son plays Control. They both have such loyal and devoted audiences.
“When you’re on a soap opera, you’re in people’s homes every day or every week,” Hope adds. “They’re spending time with you. It’s similar with a video game. A lot of fans can spend hours on a game, depending on sequels. I love both of these worlds and I’d love to see them collide.”
Control is an action-adventure video game that tells the story of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), a top-secret U.S. government agency responsible for studying phenomena that violate the laws of reality.
Jesse Faden, played by Hope, is the Bureau’s new director. The setting for the game is the Oldest House – the FBC’s paranormal headquarters. Players try to defeat an enemy known as the Hiss, which has invaded and corrupted reality.
Currently, Sally is facing a different kind of battle as she tries to grapple with the news that she has a terminal illness. Can she beat it? Stay tuned to find out, but viewers know one thing — Sally’s not going to give up without a fight. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
