But, Hope persevered. She even wrangled an invitation to visit Douglas where she broached the subject with Thomas. Later, after attending a Halloween party with the Forresters, Thomas escorted Hope to his room where he promised to put his John Hancock on whatever necessary documents but only after he gets to know her “like a man and a woman should.”
