Maloney, Soap Hub’s Senior West Coast Editor, made his his stand-up comedy debut at the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, California. When you’ve been in the soap business as long as he has, you make some great friends. Maloney worked on the production staff at Bold and the Beautiful early in his career so it’s not surprising that many of those who came were from half-hour serial.
“Great night at the world famous [The Ice House] watching my friend [Michael Maloney] crush it!” enthused Sean Kanan (Deacon), on his official Twitter account, along with the hashtags “FirstTimeOnStage” and “KillerSet”
“Thank you to all my friends who came out to see me perform at [The Ice House] in Pasadena tonight1 🙏🏻💯to @coreymartincraig and @coolbeanscomedy for everything you did to make this dream come true!” Maloney posted on his Instagram along with photos of former B&B stars Maitland Ward (ex-Jessica) and Brent Jasmer (ex-Sly). “You were amazing!” Ward posted. Jasmer adds: “Michael you kicked butt!!!!!!”
Pals from Days of our Lives were also there — as Martha Madison (Belle) and also, former co-executive producer Greg Meng cheered him on. “You were absolutely brilliant! Can’t wait to see your Netflix special!” says Madison. Adds Meng: “You were awesome!”
“It was great fun drawing on some of my experiences in Hollywood and incorporating them into a standup routine,” Maloney says. “If there’s anything you’re wanting to try in life — like standup — my humble advice is, ‘Go for it!'” Soap Hub sends congratulations to Michael for an incredible job well done.
