“My wife Nikki and I have decided to separate,” Clifton shared with Soap Opera Digest. “Actually, we have been separated for some time now. She remains my best friend in the world, my partner in crime, and my closest confidant, and the decision has only deepened the love and respect we have for one another.
“Our choice was born of a commitment to one another’s happiness and, above all, giving our son Ford the best life we can,” the actor continues. “We are grateful for everyone’s support and ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate whatever the future may hold.”
The Recent Past
The couple wed on October 20, 2012. Last year, the three-time Daytime Emmy winner posted on Instagram a photo of himself and Nikki on the occasion of their 10th anniversary. “Ten years married—and we still don’t know what the hell we’re doing,” Clifton posted. In December, he shared a family holiday photo of the couple and their son Ford, who turns 7 years old in May.
Clifton began his daytime career in 2003 as Dillon Quartermaine, the son of Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) and Paul Hornsby (Paul Satterfield; Richard Burgi). After that run ended, he played the part of Schuyler Joplin on One Life to Live.

Next, Clifton returned to the West Coast to assume the role of B&B’s Liam in 2010. Over the years, he has emerged as a leading man on the show. His character vacillated between Hope (Annika Noelle) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) for many years before ultimately settling down with Hope.
Clifton is the only actor in daytime to have won the categories of Outstanding Younger Leading Actor, Outstanding Supporting Actor, and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
