Karla Mosley is certainly missed on our TV screens, but the popular actress who played Maya Avant on The Bold and the Beautiful and also subbed for Mishael Morgan as Amanda Sinclair on The Young and the Restless, also has a way with words, which she used to honor her father.
Karla Mosley Pays Tribute
Mosley posted to her official Instagram (see below) on World AIDS Day, December 1, a post dedicated to her late father. “I always think of my father on #WorldAidsDay — almost more than I do on the anniversary of his death. So, it’s fitting that my mom sent this to me today. A snapshot of the game he so loved, but also credited with the place his drug addiction began because of the excessive use of pain killers to keep him in the game.
“My dad would go on from Quinnipiac to make All American,” she continued. “He was drafted to the Dallas Cowboys and the Lakers (as he liked to say, “I had a cup of coffee with the Lakers”), and then played ball professionally in Mexico for a few years.
“Years after his HIV diagnosis in 1989, after he found his center again, he was a staunch activist for those in his community. Though not queer, he once donned heels, a wig, and a dress at the request of his friends and sang with a choir of male-identifying activists in the village. His choir name was Rachel Discrimination.
