Count The Bold and the Beautiful star John McCook among the soap stars who are sending out supportive messages via social media to uplift people during these challenging times. The actor says he was inspired to reach out to his fans via Instagram by an actor who appeared on the big screen.
John McCook: Staying Positive
“Frankly, I’ve been watching Sam Neill (Jurassic Park),” McCook recently shared with TV Insider. “He’s been doing these types of videos. I’ve been following him. Almost every day, he talks or cooks or goes on a walk with his pig. He’s not singing or dancing. He’s just talking about this or that. I was impressed. That’s the attitude. Now, everyone’s doing one where they are singing or dancing. I think that’s cool, too.
“I thought it was really good that Sam is doing this,” McCook adds. The Emmy-nominated actor has since done Instagram posts about his wife Laurette Spang McCook’s (Battlestar Galactica) birthday and other subjects.
McCook is an original cast member of BB, the world’s most-watched soap opera. The actor’s first venture into the soap world was when he joined The Young and the Restless in 1975 as Lance Prentiss and he was paired with Jaime Lyn Bauer’s Lorie. The two steamed up the screen for years and then McCook exited the show in 1980.
The performer went on to appear regularly in prime time appearing on such series as Dynasty, Three’s Company, Alice, and Family Ties. McCook had a scene in Back to the Future, the feature film that starred Michael J. Fox. Alas, it ended up on the cutting room floor.
McCook went in for a meeting with YR and BB creator William J. Bell in 1986 when he was preparing to launch the half-hour soap. Bell had one problem with McCook — he didn’t think he was old enough to play the Forrester patriarch! The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
