Although it has been over a year since Sean Kanan has appeared on a daytime drama, the actor is currently celebrating a major milestone.
Happy Birthday, Sean Kanan
That’s because he was born on November 2, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio, which means that this talented performer is turning 53 years old today. Following his acting debut — in the slasher film Hide and Go Seek — Kanan nearly met his maker courtesy of a stunt gone wrong on the set of his second project – The Karate Kid Part III.
Kanan’s prolific early film and TV career include roles in Rich Girl, Hot Shots!, Who’s the Boss?, Perry Mason: The Case of the Maligned Mobster, Perry Mason: The Case of the Killer Kiss, Step By Step, and a recurring part on The Outsiders.
Kanan joined the cast of ABC’s General Hospital in February of 1993 where he portrayed legacy character AJ Quartermaine until 1997. During his tenure with the soap, Kanan appeared on multiple primetime series including Dead at 21 and Lois & Clark.
Kanan’s next daytime part was Jude Cavanaugh during the final five months of Sunset Beach’s run. Next, Kanan accepted what was suppose to be the short-term role of villain Deacon Sharpe on CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful though he wound up staying for over four years.
Between 2009 and 2012, Kanan reprised the role of Deacon on fellow CBS sudser The Young and the Restless. Subsequently, Kanan returned to BB for a brief run in 2012 and later from 2014 to 2017. During the interim, he rejoined the cast of General Hospital and once again portrayed AJ, though the character would eventually be shot and killed.
Outside of his acting, Kanan is known for appearing on the third season of the Italian Dancing with the Stars and his authorship of books, including The Modern Gentleman: Cooking and Entertaining with Sean Kanan.
