Soap Opera Ratings Race
According to CBS, YR reached 3.04 million viewers while BB attracted 2.76. These numbers represent both soaps’ largest audiences in over five months, since the week ending April 24.
What was going on in Genoa City and in Los Angeles that had viewers tuning in? YR made what fans have suspected for many months official — Amanda (Mishael Morgan) is the long-lost twin of the late Hilary (also played by Morgan). Amanda set out to learn more about her sister by talking to the people who knew her the best including Hilary’s widower Devon (Bryton James), and her GC BUZZ colleague Mariah (Camryn Grimes), who can relate to being a long-lost twin.
Additionally, Jack (Peter Bergman), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) grew concerned about their respective children, Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Summer (Hunter King), rushing back into a relationship and possibly marriage. Billy (Jason Thompson) ran ChancComm’s exposé on Adam (Mark Grossman).
On The Bold and the Beautiful, Quinn (Rena Sofer) stepped up her plan to cement Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Shauna’s (Denise Richards) relationship by encouraging a vow renewal ceremony. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) grew more dependent on opioids, so her loved ones, including Finn (Tanner Novlan), stepped in and did their best to get her to see that she was addicted.
Steffy blasted Ridge for siding with the Logans over his own daughter but noted that he had a habit of doing that. Additionally, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) was convinced that Quinn was behind Ridge and Shauna’s surprise union.
General Hospital brought in 1.68 million viewers while Days of our Lives had 1.49 million. On GH, Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) wrapped up their Monte Carlo intrigue. Mike (Max Gail) ended his battle with Alzheimer’s and died. His daughter Courtney (Alicia Leigh-Willis) escorted him to heaven. Britt became General Hospital’s chief of staff (!). Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was diagnosed with osteoporosis.
In Salem, Tripp (Lucas Adams) was surprised to learn that Allie (Lindsay Arnold) had had a baby. Shawn (Brandon Beemer) informed Victor (John Aniston) that Hope (Kristian Alfonso) believes that Ciara (Victoria Konefal) may still be alive. Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) asked Marlena (Deidre Hall) to be there for her daughter in case she goes to jail.
In the coveted women 18-49 demographic, YR and The Bold and the Beautiful took the No. 1 and 2 spots with respective .39 and .38 ratings. GH was in third place with .36. DAYS was fourth with .33. For DAYS, their numbers represent a four-week high in total viewers and equal a 10-week high in women 18-49.
