For nearly 40 years, Kristian Alfonso has been coming into the living rooms of Days of Our Lives fans, entertaining with them with her portrayal of Hope Williams Brady. Now, sadly, that time is coming to an end.

Kristian Alfonso Is Almost Out Of Salem

The actress revealed earlier this summer that she would not be returning to the NBC serial when it resumed production in early September. Now, Alfonso has taken to social media to answer some questions fans are posing as her final airdate approaches. For the record, Alfonso shares that her last airdate as Hope is set for Wednesday, October 14.

While fans have had time to process the news of her upcoming exit, it’s still going to be tough not seeing her on the show any longer. “Completely heartbroken my all-time favorite will be leaving the show,” posted @ChickieDeeRN. “I wish you the very best of luck, success and happiness in the future. I will still remain ‘Hopeful’ you’ll return! Best wishes!”

Alfonso, who scored a Daytime Emmy nomination in 1985 in the inaugural category of Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series, responded: “Thank YOUUU Dana.”

Another fan shared a photo of Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope during their romantic travels to New Orleans from the mid-1980s. “You will be so missed,” said @trishrenee1. “Bo and Hope were just IT.”

Alfonso replied: “We had a lot of fun shooting in New Orleans. Days was on fire…u could feel the excitement. We loved shooting on location to switch things up. Ahhh and Beautiful England as well.”

DAYS has indeed produced numerous supercouples over the decades. In the 1970s, the show gave us Doug and Julie (played by real-life husband and wife Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes, who are still on the show today). More recently, the couple known as “Cin,” Robert Scott Wilson (Ben) and Victoria Konefal (Ciara), has captured viewers’ hearts. When Reckell and Alfonso were paired together in 1983, the couple became an instant hit. Arguably, they are the soaps’ most popular couple to date.

In fact, in 2002, Alfonso and Reckell won a Special Fan Award for America’s Favorite Couple at the 2002 Daytime Emmys. In 1984, Bo burst into the bride’s waiting room at a church when Hope was about to walk down the aisle and (reluctantly) marry Larry Welch (Andrew Massett).

Bo poured his heart out to Hope, telling her he’d been away from her because he had to help his brother Roman (then, Wayne Northrop; now, Josh Taylor). Hope refused to believe Bo. Just as their arguing intensified, Alice (Frances Reid), Hope’s grandmother, walked in, overjoyed that Bo had come home.

Bo whisked Hope away from the church on the back of a policeman’s, shall we say, “borrowed” motorcycle. And the rest was history. The couple beat the odds, survived heartbreak, heartache, and separations. In 2015, Bo returned home after being captive. Sadly, he died in Hope’s arms of a brain tumor.

Over the last several years, Hope’s been paired with other men in Salem, but none of those love interests captured her heart quite the way Bo did. As previously reported, Alfonso let DAYS know she would not be returning to the show after she’d already completed her last episode. So, there may not be a spectacular send-off with flashbacks as the character and the actress deserve.

Might Alfonso come back to the show? Anything’s possible. Many have left Salem only to return later. Some come back sooner than others who stay away for years. Either way, DAYS fans will never forget Alfonso or her endearing portrayal of Hope. Stay tuned. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
