If Eric Forrester is expecting his soon-to-be ex-wife Quinn to move heaven and earth to keep him from divorcing her, he might be in for a surprise. Quinn showed up at Eric’s office recently on The Bold and the Beautiful not to beg for another chance at staying together but rather to set the record straight on the full reason their marriage hit the skids. For her heartfelt performance as an ignored wife ready to begin anew, Soap Hub bestows Performer of the Week honors for B&B on Rena Sofer, who plays Quinn.

Quinn Fuller Forrester’s presence wasn’t the only surprise that unfolded when she showed up at Forrester Creations with her latest designs. Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang), not surprisingly, wanted her tossed out but Eric (John McCook) agreed to a private audience with his soon-to-be ex-wife.
A guarded Eric didn’t give Quinn much of a chance to turn on her considerable charms, asking her if she was ready to talk about their divorce. Quinn took the wind out of Eric’s sails, saying that she was willing to take whatever settlement he offered.
After all, she survived for years alone as a single working mother and she’s confident she can do that in the future. Right there, Quinn showed she was in control now that Eric wouldn’t be able to write her off as being money-hungry.
Quinn said she wasn’t interested in Eric’s money but she sure could have used his unconditional love. Unlike Brooke, whom Eric supported fully in their marriage yet she cheated on him anyway, Quinn only turned to Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) after Eric rejected her for her role in trying to pair her pal Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards) with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye).
“It was your inability to defend me that became a point of contention and concern for me,” Quinn told Eric. “You sided with Brooke and your family over me.” Sofer didn’t resort to histrionics to make her point. In fact, doing so would have diluted it.
A Daytime Emmy winner for her role as Lois on General Hospital, Rena Sofer infused B&B’s Quinn’s words with a heartfelt tone; her demeanor was quiet (for Quinn) but no less profound.
The adulterous party in a relationship usually doesn’t have a leg to stand on but Sofer presented her case with earnest emotion and facts – two things Eric can’t deny or argue beyond a certain point.
Quinn reminded Eric that she had apologized over and over but he refused to forgive her. She added that this in no way justifies her actions however, Quinn wanted the Fuller full picture to be painted.
Quinn drove her point home by noting that Eric not only rejected her but he took his “precious Brooke’s” side over hers time and time again. It wasn’t clear if Quinn was reaching Eric or even how important it was to her that she did.
She maintained her same calm and clear voice when she noted that Eric had forgiven Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) and Shauna and his other wives for their transgressions. “Why couldn’t you find it in your heart to forgive me?” Quinn added.
Eric Forrester countered by saying he had forgiven her but she still slept with Carter. “You’re right,” Quinn said. “I made a mistake but I refuse to be defined by that mistake.”
Quinn added that she was owning her mistakes but “in the end, I’m walking away from this marriage knowing I gave it everything I had. I need to be true to myself. For the first time, in a long time, that’s exactly what I’m doing and I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming.”
The last thing Eric was expecting was for Quinn to come into his office and tell him, more or less, that she’s actually content with things ending. Whether he’d admit it or not, Eric was preparing for a long legal battle subconsciously aware that this would keep Quinn in his orbit.
Now, Eric may (or may not) address his indirect role in Quinn ending up in Carter’s arms. If he accepts that people are human, make mistakes and that there are two sides to every story, perhaps he’ll reconsider getting that divorce? But will it be too late? Either way, it’s a safe bet that Rena Sofer’s performances will keep us riveted.
