On today’s Bold and the Beautiful episode, Liam Spencer did his utmost to disabuse Hope of the notion that she’s a failure as a parent. She didn’t want to hear him.

While Hope (Annika Noelle) wrapped herself in self-pity and indignation, Liam (Scott Clifton) tried to make her see sense. His efforts were for naught.

All Hope wanted to do was rue. Steffy. STEFFY?! How could Douglas say that he wants to live with Steffy?! She’s not his mother! She’s just his aunt! It’s outrageous! Where or where did she go wrong? Is this a punishment? Is this Karma having the last laugh? After all, Hope went into that courtroom assured that Douglas would choose her over his father.
Why oh why did Hope ever consent to this madness in the first place? Expecting Douglas to decide on his own where he wanted to lay his head. That was a poor parenting decision. That’s why they’re in this predicament. It’s all her fault.
Not so, argued Liam. Also, he doesn’t for one minute expect Douglas to remain in Steffy’s care. If anything, Douglas will get a few good weeks at the cliff house, and then he’ll be right back where he belongs — with Liam, Hope, and Beth.
Oh, G-d, Beth, lamented Hope, proving that she hadn’t listened to a word her husband uttered. How in the world do they go about explaining this to Beth? This will devastate that little girl.
She’ll cope, offered Liam. Besides, he’s sure that Douglas will eventually realize his mistake and want to return to the only real home that he’s ever known — but they have to let the boy come to that conclusion on his own…and they have to honor his wish to live with Steffy. For now, at least. The short term and all that.

B&B Recap: New Normal Obliterated
Finn was incredulous. Why would Douglas write Steffy’s name down? Steffy wasn’t even an option from which the boy could choose — it was Hope or Thomas (Matthew Atkinson). Now, Finn can understand Douglas ditching Thomas, but Hope and Liam? What’s that all about?
Good question, agreed Steffy. She didn’t get it either. She was so sure Douglas would be leaving the courtroom and heading back to the cabin and that Thomas had lost his place in his son’s life forever, but…things didn’t shake out that way.
And how can Steffy, in good conscience, deny Douglas’s request? Huh? How can she tell her nephew that his voice and his opinion matter not and that she won’t be taking charge of him?
How indeed, wondered Finn, silently to himself. When finally asked for his take, Finn made it clear that he was happy with the status quo. He has a wife, two children, a happy home, and a happy life. He doesn’t want anything or anyone to distract from that. He wants no inconvenience.
And it’s not so much that Douglas himself would be an inconvenience, but the baggage that the boy would bring with him would be. Majorly so. Can Steffy understand that?
Sure she can. But she doesn’t quite like it. After having a think, Steffy offered a hypothetical — what if they took Douglas in for a trial period, then reassessed? Would Finn be amenable to that? Maybe, maybe.
